Why Homebirth?

Because birth is not a medical emergency — it’s a sacred, physiological event.

At Magnolia Midwifery, we believe that when a healthy pregnancy is supported by skilled care and trust in the natural process, homebirth can be a safe, empowering, and profoundly beautiful choice.

✦ The Safety of Homebirth

Homebirth isn’t about rejecting modern medicine — it’s about choosing the right setting for the right person. For low-risk, healthy pregnancies, planned homebirth with a trained midwife is a safe option supported by evidence and global research. As a Certified Nurse Midwife and Licensed Midwife with hospital and out-of-hospital experience, I bring a calm, skilled presence and the tools needed to monitor your well-being and your baby’s throughout labor and birth.

I come prepared with:

  • Deep knowledge of normal birth — and how to respond when it’s no longer normal

  • Emergency equipment (oxygen, anti-hemorrhage medications,resuscitation tools)

  • A collaborative approach with local hospitals in the rare event a transfer is needed

The vast majority of births I attend at home unfold smoothly, peacefully, and powerfully — with mothers upright, unmedicated, and fully supported.

✦ The Power of Home

When you give birth at home, you’re in full control of your environment — your lighting, your sounds, your movement, your people. There’s no rushing to the hospital. No strangers. No one telling you when to push or what to do with your body.

Instead, there’s:

  • Familiar surroundings that support relaxation and oxytocin flow

  • The freedom to move, eat, rest, and birth on your terms

  • Continuous one-on-one support from your midwife and birth team

  • Immediate bonding, breastfeeding, and golden hour in your own bed

✦ A Return to Trust

Homebirth is about trusting your body, your baby, and your birth team. It’s a return to ancient wisdom — guided by modern skill. It’s for the woman who wants to be seen, heard, and deeply supported every step of the way.

If that woman is you, I’d be honored to walk with you.
